I grew up in the Midwest, where I learned the value of hard work, friendliness, and warm weather, and where I received a degree in Media Studies. As an independent designer, I’m mostly self taught. I’ve been running a successful freelance practice for about 5 years.
I’ve learned that graphic design is all about finding creative solutions to problems, visually ordering information, and above all, communicating effectively. It’s about making things look nice, for sure, but it’s also about thinking critically. My mission is to come alongside clients as a strategic partner to help them succeed even beyond their original goals.
I have worked for a number of industries and client types.
Don’t see your industry? No problem, let’s talk about adding it.
Any project begins first and foremost with a solid, strategic plan. I will study your industry, your audience, and your goals to determine the best possible gameplan for your project. This phase includes elements like project questionnaires & fact finding, competitor research, content brainstorming, sitemaps & page outlines, and statement of objectives.
This is the phase where all of the initial legwork is utilized for the truly fun part—brainstorming creative directions. After pinpointing your design preferences through mood boards and visual briefs, I may deliver up to three different design concepts for your project. Depending on the project, these may include things like logo ideas, home page mockups, typography studies, and brand presentations.
Once a design direction has been discovered, I will apply my perfectionist’s eye to hone every pixel. No matter which medium your project is destined for, it is important to me that all elements measure up to the most rigorous standards of typography, visual interest, readability, navigability, accessibility, and more.
A project is not complete until I have followed through on all of the details. For web projects, that means testing sites on different mobile devices and browsers; for print projects, ensuring dimensions and color specifications are absolutely flawless. My commitment to being a strategic partner means that I will try to make sure the project stays on course to meet all of the original goals.
